On January 28, 2026, following official certification by the Institute for Solar Energy Research Hamelin (ISFH) in Germany, the Heterojunction (HJT) solar cells independently developed by Suzhou Maxwell Technologies Co., Ltd. (“Maxwell” or the “Company”) achieved conversion efficiency of 26.92% on the full size 210 half-cut wafer (220.76 cm²). This milestone sets a new world record in HJT solar cell technology, marking a new era for the Company in the R&D and industrialization of high-efficiency HJT technology.

The efficiency breakthrough was fabricated via Maxwell’s proprietary full-line HJT production equipment and complete-process technical solutions. Based on commercial grade silicon wafers and screen-printing, Maxwell R&D team has integrated a portfolio of the Company’s proprietary core technologies, including nanocrystalline structure and material optimization, carrier transport-passivation balance, differentiated texturing, and silicon wafer edge optimization engineering. All associated equipment, materials and process routes are scalable for mass production.
This achievement has forged a solid technical foundation for Maxwell to further advance the industrialization and large-scale application of HJT cells through its full-line solutions, driving the global development of high-efficiency HJT technology.
◼ Surmounting Peaks to Scale New Heights — The Journey from 25.05% to a Record 26.92%
In May 2021, Maxwell’s HJT cells set a new mass production technology record with a conversion efficiency of 25.05% for the first time; in January 2026, the Company updated the world record for this technology to an unprecedented 26.92%. Every efficiency certification is a strong indicator of Maxwell’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement. This 1.87% efficiency leap establishes an authoritative roadmap for performance advancement, and forges a cost-efficient, mass-manufacturable technological pathway that drives the large-scale industrialization of HJT technology worldwide.
Currently, by virtue of its outstanding advantages including high efficiency, superior stability, radiation resistance, and a lightweight and thin profile enabled by ultra-thin silicon wafer process. HJT solar cells transcend terrestrial PV applications, emerging as a leading technological force in the global space energy industry.

Looking ahead, Maxwell will continue to leverage its comprehensive strengths in R&D and innovation, manufacturing capability, and industrial chain synergy to drive the industrial advancement of HJT technology to new heights with its world-leading HJT full-line solutions.
